Chirp radar theory
A chirp is a signal in which the frequency increases (up-chirp) or decreases (down-chirp) with time. In some sources, the term chirp is used interchangeably with sweep signal. It is commonly applied to sonar, radar, and laser systems, and to other applications, such as in spread-spectrum communications (see chirp spread spectrum). This signal type is biologically inspired and occurs as a ph… WebJul 5, 2024 · Compared with the two existing methods, the chirp radar with stepped frequency has the constant bandwidth and pulse width, which means high range resolution and short blind range. In the meantime, stepped frequency can be achieved more easily. 4 Numerical computation

WebThere are some special merits for the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) chirp waveform as multiple input multiple output (MIMO) signals. This signal has high range resolution, good Doppler tolerance, and constant modulus superiority since it exploits a full bandwidth and is based on chirp signals. The correlation sidelobe peaks level are critical … WebAug 19, 2024 · Using a chirped pulse provides more information in that it can be used to determine range and velocity from multiple targets simultaneously. 1 or 4 GHz linear chirp is typically used in 77 GHz automotive radar systems, which makes data processing easier while still providing accuracy that is comparable to exponential chirp.
WebA new radar technique has been developed that provides a solution for the conflicting requirements of simultaneous long-range and high-resolution performance in radar systems. This technique, called Chirp at Bell Telephone Laboratories, recognizes that resolution depends on the transmitted pulse bandwidth.
