WebDec 8, 2024 · The only thing you actually need water for is injury treatment and fishing. There is almost guaranteed be water somewhere underground eventually in the caves, so by the time you find you actually need some water, you will likely have found it. And if you dont dig down that far ever, you probably will never end up actually needing it. #6 WebDwarves will not swim across rivers in fortress mode, regardless of their swimming skill, and unskilled dwarves that end up in a river can quickly drown in the current. Dwarves will only seek dry routes across rivers, such as a bridge, floor, or tunnel.
